Snowlion Alaskan Malamute Sled Dogs

Strength…Endurance…Beauty

While we have produced several Best in Show dogs and numerous AKC & international champions, we are primarily a sledding kennel. Our dogs are happiest when out on the trail. Depending on the season, we do both ‘dryland’ training with an ATV and sled there is sufficient snow.

We start our yearlings in harness around 9-12 months; We keep the early runs short & fun for everyone. Team running is safe for youngsters as the weight is minimal and distributed over 6-8 dogs.  For weight pulling or carrying a pack, it’s best to wait until dogs are 24 months old.

Our favorite time of the year is early spring when the trails are covered in corn snow and well-packed, allowing us to cross meadows and explore side trails without having to break trail through deep snow. Spring is also when racing season is over so we combine our Alaskan Huskies and Malamute teams for leisurely trips, sometimes overnighting at a friend’s cabin.
