Snowlion Alaskan Malamutes, Team Dogs, our pack & extended family
Snowlion Team Dogs
Our Pack & Extended Family
Since we adopted our first Malamute rescue in the early 1980s, our dogs have been our constant companions in the back country. The athleticism and endurance of a well-structured Alaskan Malamute makes it the ideal dog for active individuals. When Jo was competing in full distance Ironman Triathlons her malamutes Zeke, and later Kesar, kept her company on long training runs over remote, isolated trails. On distant hikes our Malamutes also serve as pack dogs and help carry water & supplies. Over the years we’ve put a number of working-titles on our Alaskan Malamutes: WPD, WTD, WLD working pack, team, lead dog respectively. Mostly we just love being outdoors with our Alaskan Malamutes, enjoying their company and the beauty of the mountains & wilderness around us. Below are the Alaskan Malamutes that make up the team-- some live nearby with friends and visit us frequently.
SLEDDING PHOTOS
Ch Snowlion K’du Dreaming WTD
Brook and her dam Sky were our main leaders for the past decade. Brook retired last spring a few months before her 13th birthday. One of my favorite girls; her personality reminds me of her granddam Kali.
Ch Snowlion Night Magic WTD
Tessa inherited her easy-going temperament and incredible movement from her sire Zzombe. Gentle in spirit and super affectionate like all of our girls—she’s very easy to live with.
Ch Snowlion in t'Shadow of Denali WTD
Claire is a gorgeous girl just coming into her own. Quiet, with a soft personality, she blends in no matter what we’re doing and gets along well with all dogs. She recently finished her AKC championship after shows were halted during the pandemic.
Snowlion UnderMonsoon Cloud WTD
A Chase x Alu daugher, Kensi inherited their high spirits & working drive. We call her the energizer bunny—she is always ready to go, go, go. One of our best baby sitters, she loves puppies
Ch Snowlion Red Moon Rising WTD
Ziggy is Kensi's stunning older sister. She’s happy doing whatever we’re doing and actually likes to show as much as run on the team. She inherited the lovely breed type of her dam Alu.
Snowlion Marsyandi Mist WTD
At 9.5 years, Alu still has lots of drive in harness. Always a happy girl. She’s out of Ranger x Tikka and the dam of Kensi and Ziggy. When her dam died last year, Brook stepped into that role & became her best friend.
Snowlion’s Sierra Noel WTD
Binky, 11.5 now, retired last spring from our sled team at the same time as Brook. A substantially built Uyak Aleut Alex daughter, Binky is the dam of Misty & Chase. She hangs out with Brook & Alu.

Snowlion’s Monsoon Mist WTD
Windy is a lovely girl out of Charlie (Ch Nanuke A Rumor of War) and Binky. Always smiling--one of our Zen girls and super moms. She fits right in when she’s visiting. Misty loves children (the human kind).
Snowlion K'du Rebel WTD
Julien was sired by Multi BIS Am/Au Grand Ch Snowlion Kathmandu Express. Standard size with excellent bone, he's a real powerhouse in harness & a great lead dog.
